Damon and Tina

I attended VCU games and followed the athletic program before I went to college. Kenny Harris played high school basketball not far from where I grew up, so after he transferred from UNC it was natural for me to start rooting for VCU. After college it was a natural progression to donate to the university. In talking with Andrew [Hartley] I made a decision to start donating to the Athletic Department around 2004 maybe 2006 (not too sure) and haven’t regretted it a single second. It’s nice to give back to the University.

1.What is your favorite VCU Athletics memory?

The comeback against George Mason in 2007. However, nothing beats going on the road with my friends to watch the NCAA tournament. I’ve gone to Raleigh and Philadelphia but not Buffalo, maybe I should stop going!

2.Who is your all-time favorite VCU basketball player?

For some reason it is Troy Godwin. I don’t know why but I always liked the way he played, kind of reminded me of Charles Barkley.

3.Why should others donate to the Ram Athletic Fund?

It’s a great opportunity to give back to the University. Norwood Teague and the rest of the Athletic Department staff have done a fantastic job of engaging younger donors. I would encourage everyone, graduates of VCU or just casual sports fans, to become more active in the sports community in Richmond.
