Erin O'Toole-Lyons

I have attended VCU games since I was 5 years old. I was a cute 5 year old. I have three older brothers and a sports fanatic father, who has been a professor at VCU for 30+ years. After getting my Bachelors degree at VCU, I moved to Boston and listened to Rams Basketball online; I even called into the coaches show. I met my husband, Andy, just before I moved back from Boston to finish my Master’s degree at VCU in Clinical Social Work. Soon after, he became an enthusiastic fan as well!
2. Why you started giving to the Ram Athletic Fund?
We wanted to be a part of the growth of VCU Athletics and to help the School become a nationally-recognized power house.
3. Favorite VCU Athletics memory?
It is hard to narrow down, Duke would be the easy one. Really, I think the opening of the Siegel Center against Louisville[is my favorite] …what a night!
4. Favorite VCU Basketball players?
For me, John Smith, a largely understood big man and Marlow Talley, aka Mr. Flagrant are two of my favorites. And how could I leave off Jesse Pellot-Rosa, Mr. Do Everything-Everywhere. Andy’s favorite player was B.A. Walker, the man to have the ball in the closing seconds for the win. Of course, any VCU fan can’t help but love Eric Maynor.
5. Why others should donate to the Ram Athletic Fund?
VCU Athletics has allowed so many young men and women the opportunity to pursue a degree and play sports at the highest level. Giving to the fund reflects a commitment to the future and continued success of VCU Athletics.
